Nehemiah 8:8, is a compound memory verse in the Bible. We all know that junk foods are not good for the body. This is the same when you're with the worldly things, wanting the desire it, these are comparable to eating junk foods. And it will be hard for us to obey God's word because the worldly things gets in the way. It is more relevant that we should be more interested in God's word. The two main points in this chapter are; in verse 1-12, we should learn God's word attentively. And, in verse 13-18, we should apply what we learn and want to hear. Now, what we need to hear are the five books, or Pentateuch - the Torah. We need to desire to hear God's word and this is the commandment of God. "Attentively" means carefully you need to be interested. We must read our Bible and listen attentively. Revelation 2:29 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Integrity means being honest with God and do "what you have said to do". We have to live with Integrity. In verse 1-38, every individual must live in truth. In verse 39-73, live in impurity. One of the marks of an individual who lives in truth, when he or she continue the work. In our Christian walk in the Lord, we must also have perseverance. Citadel means fortress.
