Righteousness is a Gift from God. Throughout the Son if God.

Philippians 3:9 (NIV)
and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.

Even great leaders fail, we should focus out attention to Jesus not to our Pastor or leaders. Fix your eyes to God. He is the beginning and the end He will never fail you.
The more we know God's law, the more we are accountable.

1 John 5:11-13 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
